MR65 motors with flux-shunt brake: the SOGA system for small cutting machines.
SOGA pursues the highest level of innovation and quality in all its products. For the most different applications, we provide special and custom-made electric motors designed by our R&D, over decades of experience with customers in many industries.
The flux-shunt brake is one of our outstanding innovations: this is an electromechanical system applied on low center induction motors with brake, capable of using the magnetic flux of the motor itself to activate the braking device.
The flux-shunt brake is integrated into the motor: a particularly compact, durable system requiring very little maintenance. Moreover, this type of brake does not require any external power connections, making it a highly energy-efficient solution.
This system is typically used in small cutting machines manufactured by many OEMs, where the shaft must be brought to a controlled stop within a specific timeframe, as imposed by industry safety standards.
Activation/release of the flux-shunt brake.
The brake is activated when power to the motor is turned off—during the shutdown phase: an innovative, proven mechanism utilizes the elimination of magnetic force within the rotor to bring the shaft to a controlled stop.
Instead, when the motor is turned on (start-up phase), the flux shunt intercepts a portion of the magnetic flux in the rotor: this releases the brake, allowing the motor to rotate at full speed.
MR65 motors, available with integrated brake.
SOGA MR65 low center motors can be supplied with a flux-shunt brake, for the deceleration of cutting machines.
