Everything starts back in 1946 when Mister Lino Soga is born in Montecchio Maggiore. A city, his destiny…

Pietro Soga, responsible for production at company Giacomo Pellizzari (today Marelli Motori), is very familiar with the world of electric motors: in the early Sixties he introduces his family in the business of rotor windings, commissioned by Fiamm to some local families as a source for supplementary incomes during the years of the Italian economic miracle.

In the evenings, the Soga family gathers around a table to wind small rotors for horns. It is in that atmosphere of family stability and affection that Lino develops his great passion for electromechanics.

Mister Lino Soga in 1962, very close to his birth house in Montecchio Maggiore. Thanks to the income earned from in-house winding production, Lino continues his mechanical education at Istituto Tecnico Statale A. Rossi in Vicenza.

On March 23, 1966, the sole company Soga Lino is established. He is still underage (adulthood at the time was reached at 21), therefore his father Pietro signs as a guarantee.

In 1971 Lino Soga marries Francesca Zini. Their love story blossoms among the windings behind the workbenches, an indissoluble union in their private and professional lives: from their marriage three children are born, Enrico, Dania and Nicola.

The production of first SOGA-branded asynchronous electric motors begins in 1972. The family name officially becomes synonymous of quality and reliability in the Italian industrial landscape.

In 1979, Lino Soga establishes CMA Srl (Costruzioni Macchine Agricole) based in Montecchio Maggiore in Via Pigafetta. In its early years, CMA produces small, complete agricultural machinery assembled with SOGA motors: corn mills and bronze pumps for wine decanting. Within a few years, CMA becomes a key production site for SOGA, producing all of its windings (rotors and stators).

Between 1980 and 1981, Costruzioni Elettromeccaniche Soga SpA opens its plant in Via della Tecnica 15 in Montecchio, which remains the Group’s headquarters today. This photo shows the company’s exterior in 1983.

In 1989 SINCRO Srl is acquired, originally founded in 1986 for the production of small synchronous alternators. The very first site, of just 100 square meters, is located in Cornedo Vicentino in a former carpentry workshop.

Between 1992 and 1993, the site is purchased for the construction of the SOGA2 plant, dedicated to the mechanical processing of SOGA motors and SINCRO alternators.

Today, SOGA2 employs a team of  30 specialized workers for the production of shafts, flanges and shields, working on daily shifts, supported by high-performance machinery and systems with Industry 4.0 automation.

SOGA Motors Catalogue in the early Nineties. The market is expanding, especially in pump, compressor and gate opener applications. Achieving its first exports to Europe, the catalogue is published in two languages, appealing to international customers.

In 1999, the SOGA GROUP name is created to present as one the three companies owned by Soga: Costruzioni Elettromeccaniche SOGA SpA, SINCRO Srl, and CMA Srl. The Group’s solidity is tangible and recognized, with constant growth in terms of turnover and expansion of its product offering.

In 2001 Sincro creates AGROWATT, the PTO-driven generator which will revolutionize the power generation sector. The first model is the 38 kVA GS. Within a few years, AGROWATT, with its unmistakable Italian design, becomes an icon: the market leader for this type of product.

In 2002, another SINCRO innovation is introduced: the HB4 series, the first alternators with brushless/AVR technology and three-phase powers from 14 to 30 kVA. HB4 is followed by the JB4 series (produced in 2003 up to 105 kVA) and the SK160 Supercompact series (2005). Compactness becomes Sincro’s trademark, combined with product excellence. Alternator exports soar, steadily exceeding 90% of the total.

In June 2002, the first SINCRO Sales Conference is held with the Italian and international sales network. An important opportunity to share and further boost SINCRO’s international expansion.

SINCRO keeps investing in expansion of its industrial alternator range and in December 2002 enters into a joint venture with the Croatian company Rade Končar to acquire its entire power division. This results in the creation of S.K.G. (Sincro Končar Generators d.o.o.). Within a few years, the SK250, SK315/355, SK400/450, and SK500 series are introduced. SINCRO Catalogue extends up to 2,600 kVA.

In 2006 Costruzioni Elettromeccaniche SOGA SpA celebrates 40 years from the foundation.

The SINCRO Sales Conference events are held every two years. This picture shows the 2008 edition. Sales network is constantly evolving, reaching every continent.

In 2008, SOGAENERGIES division is created for energy special projects. The first permanent magnet generators for wind turbines are produced: in the picture, EV710S and EV400L models exhibited by a customer at one of the first editions of K.EY Energy fair in Rimini, Italy.

In 2010, SOGA SpA acquires the companies SINCRO Srl and CMA Srl. The merge marks a generational transition, with Lino Soga handing over the torch to his sons and daughter Enrico, Dania and Nicola.

In 2016 the company celebrates its 50th Anniversary. Ad maiora!

Collaborators express their gratitude to the SOGA family.

The Group expands with the acquisition of CMZ Sistemi Elettronici Srl in June 2017, an Italian company specialized in electronics for industrial automation. The aim is to offer integrated solutions in industrial applications.

SINCRO is a founding member of Generazione Distribuita association, promoting power generation sector. In 2019 the first edition of Italian exhibition DPE (Distributed Power Europe) is held.

Pursuing continuous innovation, SOGA (with SINCRO, SOGAENERGIES and CMZ) participates with a double stand at Hannover Messe, the world’s leading fair for industrial technologies.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, SOGA takes part at InnoTrans the fair dedicated to railway, confirming itself  among the most important players in this industry.

In 2023 the new AGROWATT BUD is presented at Agritechnica, our model larger than ever before, up to 140 kVA!

In 2023, the new offices are also inaugurated at SOGA headquarters.

In 2025 SOGA® becomes an Italian Historical Trademark. This official recognition of our history, issued by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, places us among our Country’s manufacturing excellences.
